A bench-clearing incident occurred during the Braves-Dodgers game due to Marcell Ozuna's backswing

Tensions escalated between the Braves and Dodgers on Monday night when Will Smith accused Marcell Ozuna of intentionally hitting him with his backswing. The atmosphere at Truist Park was initially filled with love, as Atlanta fans warmly welcomed Freddie Freeman back. However, the harmony didn't last long for the rest of the players on both teams. In the fourth inning, emotions ran high and the benches cleared after Marcell Ozuna's backswing made contact with Dodgers catcher Will Smith.

Smith has a valid reason to be defensive after being struck on the head, as he had previously landed on the Injured List due to a concussion earlier in the season. It's an unpleasant experience to be hit by a bat, especially on the helmet.

Ozuna maintained his innocence while his teammates restrained him and guided him back to the dugout. Both bullpens also made their way to the field, anticipating a potential escalation that ultimately didn't occur.

During that point in the game, the Braves were leading 4-1. They gained an early advantage with an RBI single from Sean Murphy and a three-run homer by Eddie Rosario in the first inning. However, the Dodgers fought back, with J.D. Martinez hitting a home run in the second inning and Max Muncy and David Peralta driving in runs in the top of the fourth.

In the following inning, Freeman gave Los Angeles the lead with a three-run homer to right field, making it 6-4. Atlanta swiftly responded with a run in the bottom of the fifth.

Undoubtedly, all attention will be on Ozuna when he steps up to bat again with Smith behind the plate.
