Oklahoma Softball concludes a remarkable season by capturing their third consecutive Women's College World Series (WCWS) championship

Oklahoma's unprecedented undefeated run will carry over to the next season after their triumph in Game 2 against Florida State, securing their third consecutive national championship for the program. With a remarkable record of 61-1, the Sooners emerged victorious over the Seminoles, clinching a 3-1 victory and completing a sweep of the Women's College World Series. This win extended Oklahoma's remarkable winning streak to 53 games over a span of 109 days. By achieving a three-peat as national champions, the Sooners join the ranks of UCLA as the only other program in NCAA history to accomplish this feat, achieved by UCLA from 1988 to 1990.

Under the guidance of long-time coach Patty Gasso, the 2023 title marks Oklahoma's seventh national championship, with six of them achieved in the last 10 years. With this latest victory, Gasso concludes her remarkable 29th season as the winningest campaign in NCAA history, boasting an impressive combined record of 176-8 over the past three seasons.

The game began with three scoreless innings, but Florida State University (FSU) took an early 1-0 lead in the fourth inning with a home run from senior Mack Leonard. However, the momentum quickly shifted as Oklahoma (OU) responded in the top of the fifth inning with back-to-back home runs from Cydney Sanders and Grace Lyons, taking a 2-1 lead.

A sacrifice bunt advanced the Sooners into scoring position and pinch runner Jordy Bahl added another run after senior Alynah Torres reached base on a fielder's choice ground ball to shortstop. OU held on to their 3-1 advantage, thanks to an impressive performance from Bahl in the closing innings.

Bahl, who pitched a complete game shutout in OU's 5-0 victory in Game 1, continued her strong performance in the Women's College World Series (WCWS) with another solid outing. The sophomore pitcher didn't allow any hits and recorded three strikeouts in her 3.0 innings pitched.

Prior to Game 2, Bahl accumulated an impressive record of 30 strikeouts and a mere 12 hits allowed across a total of 21 2/3 innings without conceding a single run.
