At the Players Championship, Adam Hadwin angrily tossed his club into the water, much to the amusement of his wife.

Golfer Adam Hadwin, known for his ability to avoid water hazards at The Players Championship, experienced a reversal of fortune on Thursday as the water hazards claimed two of his balls and even a club, tarnishing his previously impeccable reputation.

For over forty years, numerous elite PGA Tour golfers have witnessed their tee shots dismayingly landing in the lake at TPC Sawgrass's renowned par-three 17th hole. However, throughout his 28 prior appearances at the 'fifth major', Adam Hadwin of Canada had consistently managed to safely land his shots on the island green, distinguishing himself from the rest.

The 36-year-old approached the renowned hole with momentum, buoyed by a birdie at the 16th. However, his next tee shot fell short of the green and landed in the lake, putting an end to his impeccable streak. To make matters worse, Hadwin's 14-foot putt narrowly missed the cup by an inch, leading to a double-bogey as the frustrated world No. 46 had to tap in.

Moments after narrowly avoiding sending his tee shot into the water along the left side of the fairway, Hadwin's frustration escalated to fury as his subsequent approach shot took an awkward bounce, careening over the 18th green and landing in the water hazard. In a fit of anger, Hadwin angrily threw his 8-iron into the water, joining his ball in its descent to the bottom of the lake. His wife Jessica, observing the spectacle, humorously remarked on the aesthetics of the toss, rating it a perfect 10 out of 10.

Hadwin concluded his round with a bogey, finishing with a three-over 75 overall, placing him 10 shots behind the day one leaders Wyndham Clark, Xander Schauffele, and Rory McIlroy. McIlroy, like Hadwin, also faced challenges with water hazards during the first round.

However, despite his frustrations on the course, the Canadian golfer, who is aiming for his second PGA Tour victory, seemed to have calmed down by the evening. This was partly due to some therapeutic cookie decorating session with his young daughter Maddox.

Jessica shared a photo of the pair engaged in this activity, noting that while it wouldn't bring back the lost club, it would help alleviate the sting of the water-related challenges they faced during the round.

According to Golf Digest, Callaway, the club manufacturer, dispatched a replacement 8-iron to Hadwin before his afternoon tee-off on Friday.

This isn't the first instance where Hadwin's wife has light-heartedly teased him over his misfortunes. Following an incident where a security guard accidentally knocked Hadwin over while he was celebrating his friend Nick Taylor's victory at the Canadian Open last year, she jokingly remarked that her husband was "still among the land of the living."

In Friday's second round, American golfer Beau Hossler reached an unfortunate milestone by hitting the 1000th ball into the water at the 17th hole since ShotLink tracking began in 2003.

During the first round, ten players had already landed their shots in the lake from the tee. However, amidst these challenges, New Zealand's Ryan Fox managed to ace the hole, becoming the 14th golfer in Players history to do so.
