On Super Tuesday, Trump appears almost certain to secure the Republican nomination as voters in 16 states cast their ballots.

It is highly likely that Donald Trump will solidify his hold on the Republican presidential nomination on Tuesday, as 16 U.S. states and one territory participate in primary votes. Spanning from Alabama to Alaska and Arkansas to American Samoa, "Super Tuesday" marks Nikki Haley's final opportunity to prevent Trump from securing a third nomination.

However, the ex-South Carolina governor and former United Nations ambassador trail significantly behind, securing only a victory in Washington DC. She now requires a political miracle to avoid the inevitable conclusion of her campaign.

In addition, on Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled unanimously that judges in Colorado, one of the Super Tuesday states, made a mistake by attempting to exclude Trump from the ballot over allegations of inciting the January 6 insurrection. Maine, another state participating in Tuesday's elections, also sought to prevent Trump from running. The third state to take such action, Illinois, will conduct its primary later in March.

In the Democratic Super Tuesday contest, Joe Biden is almost certain to secure victory over his fellow contenders, including Minnesota congressman Dean Phillips and self-help author Marianne Williamson, who recently "un-suspended" her campaign.

Despite growing concerns about the president's age, fitness for office, and his stance on the Israel-Hamas conflict, Biden's aides are primarily focused on turnout and protest vote numbers.

The Democratic Socialists of America, a prominent group among young progressives, has endorsed advocating for Super Tuesday voters to select "uncommitted" as a means of expressing disapproval for U.S. support for Israel. In Michigan last week, over 100,000 voters opted for this choice.

However, Republican-aligned pollster Frank Luntz asserted that Super Tuesday matters less this year in terms of a presidential election. He emphasized that the decision has been made, and the choice is clear. Polls indicate significant dissatisfaction among voters in both parties regarding the potential Biden-Trump rematch, citing concerns about their ages (Biden at 81, Trump at 77) and fitness for office. Additionally, Trump faces scrutiny over 91 criminal charges, including election subversion, retention of classified information, and hush-money payments, along with multimillion-dollar civil defeats.

"You know the two nominees, and 70% of Americans would prefer otherwise," remarked Luntz.

There are also other noteworthy contests further down the ballot.

In California, during an open primary, voters will determine which two candidates for the U.S. Senate will progress to the November general election. A crowded field includes Adam Schiff, a Democratic former chair of the House intelligence committee, and Steve Garvey, a Republican former baseball star.

In Texas, a state long coveted by Democrats, the party will select a candidate to challenge the high-profile, staunchly conservative, Trump-supporting senator Ted Cruz. Leading in polls is Colin Allred, a congressman and former NFL player.

Meanwhile, in North Carolina, the Democratic attorney general, Josh Stein, and Republican lieutenant governor, Mark Robinson, are anticipated to move on to the November election for governor. This race will determine the successor to the term-limited Democrat Roy Cooper, in a state increasingly pivotal in presidential elections and Congressional control.

Despite being a rare Black Republican in elected office, Robinson has faced widespread criticism for his strong right-wing rhetoric. At a recent rally, Trump referred to him as "Martin Luther King on steroids."
